Here I come!

Here I come!
I will be arriving in Michigan on the 30th of September and I will be in the States until I return on the 11th of November to Leticia, Amazonas Colombia.  I am sooo... looking forward to seeing as many of my family and friends as possible.

I would like to offer you all an opportunity to sow a seed into the work that I am doing here in Colombia. How you ask! By participating in AFAMMS' PayPal a – Thon.  How does this work? Starting October 1st through November 10th you may go to the AFAMMS website http://afamms.blogspot.com click on the yellow button that says donate and follow the instructions.  If you have your own PayPal account, you may donate at safricanamericanmobilization@yahoo.com . You may print out your tax-deductible receipt from the PayPal website. Tell your friends and invite others to participate.  If I am in your area, feel free to invite me to share with your group. The goal is a minimum of 8,000.00.  You may ask me how do I give.  First pray and ask God what He would like for you to give. Remember the woman who gave the little that she had. It is not the ammount it is what is in your heart. Together we can accomplish this goal for the sake of Christ's mission.

These are the cares that I am casting on the Lord for the next 2 months. (1Pe 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.) (NKJV) Please join me in prayer for these areas.
1. My father's health
2. My rent in Colombia paid
3. Meals and transportation in the States
4. Taxes completed and a payment plan set up (unless God provides all at once)
5. Transportation to Maryland round trip.
6. Transportation to Missouri round trip
7. Motorcar for Colombia (Motorcar $5,000.00 including documents and insurance)
8. Tickets paid for Leticia Colombia to Michigan round trip $676.20

I am believing for a minimum of $8,000.00 for this trip.  I believe that God will do this because I have experienced Him do more.  Keep praying and sharing the vision.  I like what Paul says in Romans 15:20 about preaching the gospel where it has not been preached before... That is why I am here in the Amazon. I believe that God wants me to be free to minister.

Thank you again for your giving. With the exchange rate at 3,000 to a
dollar your donation goes a long way. The Presence of God in the Amazonas!! Blessings my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Summer News Leter

It is summer where you are and it is sunny most of the time here in the rainforest. It rains once a day every few days so we also are experiencing “summer” here in the Amazon. What a year so far! I left the States prepared to work and minister but, God had other plans. For more than ten years I have not been able to have a complete physical check up due to the fact that I had no health insurance. Most of the time I was in the States I was sick with a bad cold this past winter. It left me with a pain in my chest that at times was worse or other times less noticeable. When I arrived in Leticia I immediately began to work teaching English classes, swimming classes, studying Portuguese and attending the RHEMA Bible institute.  For the first time since I have been working in Colombia, the new covering that God has placed me under focused on helping me get Colombian health insurance, I now have insurance!  Just in time! The Word of God says that by His stripes we were healed. Over the years I have claimed this word especially since I did not have insurance but, the week after having received the confirmation of the health insurance all the pain in my chest sent me to the emergency.  Pneumonia was the diagnostic report. For the next 2 months I spent recuperating and, the doctors began to put me through every kind of test since I had not had a complete physical in more than 10 years. They begin saying that I was at risk for this thing or that thing because of my age. They wanted to give me medicine and one doctor wanted to operate on me.  I had to claim the Word of God. He would not have me to come to Colombia to die! I am here to live and to spread the Word of Life here in the Amazon. I had to stand up to the doctors and say “No!”  I may be at risk but, I do not have whatever sickness they wanted to put on me. The one doctor that wanted to operate to prevent cancer of the uterus was surprised that I would point blank ask him if I had cancer. He had to say the truth “no.” So, I told him “No!” All the test came back negative. There was only one change with the heart specialist.  He concluded that I appeared to be  very healthy and that I should keep swimming. They will do one more test in September but, I appeared to be very well.  AMEN!!

Many of you know that I have had trouble with my knees and my right foot. The exams done by the orthopedic doctor did reveal that I will have to have surgery on my right foot and probably a replacement on my left knee where there is no padding between the bones. I believe I know how a racing car “feels” when it pulls into the pit stop and gets checked out, fine tuned, a change of tires and sent on to finish the race. Thank God for insurance that covers everything, Thank God for a body that can be healed. And, thank God that He is my Sponsor and has given me all that I need to complete what He has called me to do! (Phil. 4:13)

PRAYER
1. Pray that I will move in God's perfect timing as relates to the surgeries to be scheduled.
2.  I need to come to the states for a month to complete the taxes that I was working on at the end of last year.  It will cost approx. $3,000.00 dollars to do this trip before the deadline. (end of September through the end of October) – Pray that God will bless people with seed to sow
3.  Physical strength and rapid healing after each surgery.

Happy New Year from the Amazon

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The last few months were full of the miracles of God! I went home to get some much needed family and friend time. God gave me a practical application lesson on a scripture passage that had been stuck in my spirit for over a year.  Hebrews 4:4 speaks of the rest of God. He refers to Genesis 2:2 and says that He rested from ALL His works. For me, these passages gave me the faith to travel from Colombia and back believing that every plan and purpose of God for my life was already complete. I just needed to act on this fact. So how did I apply this fantastic revelation that was exploding in my mind?

Let's start with airfare. I knew that I needed to tend to the business of AFAMMS and spend time with my family and friends. Since I did not have enough money for a round trip ticket, I asked for a one way ticket from Colombia to Orlando for $400.00. Yes, at Thanksgiving time! God gave me permission to ask whatever in His name and He would give it to me. So I did! The lowest price was $480+ The site that I went to said to name your own price. I asked for $400.00. They wrote back and apologized that they could not do the ticket at that price but, would I accept it at $301.30. I laughed and said yes.  With taxes it was $471.60. I sent my friend to the same site for my ticket from Orlando to Michigan one week before Thanksgiving. It was $88...something. Thank You God! She gifted it to me.  Much fruit for your seed my friend :) Then one round trip to Maryland on New Years day... $187.+cents. Just before leaving for Maryland I prayed and asked God for the ticket and date for returning to Colombia. He said check your frequent flyer miles (I have never had the 25,000 miles that they always ask) There was a one way special for 20,000 miles which would leave me with 301 miles with overweight luggage and taxes $225.90. Round trip Colombia to Colombia approximately for all my travels in the states $884.00. This was less than a round trip ticket from Leticia Colombia to Michigan at Christmas time. God of miracles in airfares. And special thanks to the person who paid my tickets to go to the funeral of a family member. God used you!

Next comes AFAMMS new board members. It had been heavy on my heart the need to make sure that AFAMMS is completely in order in every area.  I believe that God wants us to do everything in excellence. God had placed on my heart the need for 2 new board members.  During the time that I was in the states, 2 persons came to mind.  A young lady that I had ministered with in various conferences on mobilizing African Americans onto the foreign mission field.  When asked, she was delighted to accept and is a faithful prayer warrior. Thank you God for Myah Jefferson! Then God showed me that a person who was already ministering for AFAMMS was the second candidate.  Patrick Murphy has  faithfully been keeping up the AFAMMS website now since 2010.  Praise God that he also agreed to have his name on the board.  Please pray for these 2 persons.  They and their families have been a blessing to AFAMMS and especially to me for many years. Pray that they will be used by God according to His plans and purposes for AFAMMS. Tye and Keanna Barnes has served prayerfully and have helped since the inception of AFAMMS.  They are now stepping down to better meet the needs of their growing family. They will continue as prayer partners.  Thank you both for your service to AFAMMS. You are greatly appreciated!

Those were 2 major miracles that God did for me on the trip to the states but not the only ones.  He helped me to put order to my personal taxes, He opened up the Consulate of Brazil so that I could obtain my visa (They gave me 10 years hallelujah!), He gave me an opportunity to visit with my brother's family in Kansas City, Missouri and He blessed me to be a blessing to the church here in Leticia with 2 Laptops to update the ministry.  All the while, God was giving me opportunities to meet with and minister to family and friends and to just enjoy their company.  I could keep praising Him for the many things that He did but, you can skype me if you would like to hear more of the miracles on that trip.

This year of 2015 finds me here in Leticia Colombia ministering and serving in the Family Church of Mission Ministry with Pastors Julio and Jenny Pacheco.  I am living with 2 house mates. One is the church administrator Alixa and the other, a dear little sister in the church Andrea.  We have dedicated our apartment as a place of hospitality and ministry.  Currently, Alixa and Andrea are teaching a home Bible study for youth and college age persons on Tuesdays and I am teaching one for single middle age women on Saturdays.  I am also in an intensive study track for the RHEMA Bible Training School. This is a 3 year program designed to prepare the students to take the Gospel to the nations. In order to teach with RHEMA one must have graduated from the school.  I have been asked to be one of the instructors for the training school here in Leticia and also be available to teach in other RHEMA schools in this Amazon region. This means that I must also learn Portuguese. That's why God had the consulate of Brazil give me a 10 year visa! I am also preparing for a family of 4 who are planning on coming for a vision trip at the end of their Perspectives Mission class.  They are seeking God's will as to where He would have them serve.  Please be in prayer for Kenneth and Sarah Anum and the Coordination of their trip here to Leticia in May.

Yes there is much to do but, resting in Him we get to see the manifestation of what He has already completed when He rested from “ALL HIS WORKS” (Hebrews 4).  We also get to enjoy the benefits.  Thanks for participating with me in this adventure.
