Minister Orchidy Boyd graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1981 with diplomas in Christian Education (camping emphasis) and the Evangelical Teacher's Training Association (ETTA). She continued her education at LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas in the area of Recreation and Camp Administration. Minister Boyd completed her education in 1985 at the Calvary Bible College, Kansas City, MO with a BS Degree in Christian Camping Education.
During the time that she was attending college, Minister Boyd reconfirmed the decision she had made as a teenager and committed to the Lord to serve full-time in foreign mission work.
Minister Boyd began training with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in 1989. After completing her training, she worked for a number of years with YWAM in various countries while the Lord was laying a burden on her heart to see more African Americans involved in foreign missions. In the winter of 2000, God gave Minister Boyd the vision for African American Mobilization Services (AFAMMS) a mobilizing service to train and equip African Americans in going to the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2005 she received her ordination and began networking with Great Commission Global Ministries under Bishop David T. P. Perrin. The focus of GCGM is “to Equip, Network, and Mobilize all People, but Especially Black People, for Ministry to the World.”
Minister Boyd is director and founder of AFAMMS which has a twofold focus working with bishops, pastors, and church leaders as a consultant and facilitator in the development of a strategic mission plan to teach, train, and equip their members to minister the message of reconciliation to the nations. Speaking at conferences and providing opportunities for children, youth, families, pastors, and other believers to go on short-term vision trips to the nations. Also AFAMMS has a discipleship ministry among the Yagua nation in Colombia South America in the Amazon Rain Forest.
Minister Boyd has ministered the gospel throughout most of Central America and in the Amazon region of Colombia, Peru, and Brazil. She has also ministered in China, Jamaica, and the Republic of Benin in West Africa. Currently she is residing in the Amazon reaching the Yagua Nation for Christ. Consider partnering with AFAMMS.
